Hi! My name is Chuck Henson. I put this whole site together a small piece at a time. Now let me tell you a little about it. The Seeds of Drawl where planted back in mid 1998. What was then known as The North Georgia Poetry Page began as a simple homepage for my poetry. After a number of months of adding poetry, advancing my HTML knowledge, and improving my graphic design ability a bit the site began to grow. The first branches of the site to appear were that of friends and family members. Then, through newsgroups, chat rooms, and mailing lists, I bumped into other Georgian poets interested in having their work included on The North Georgia Poetry Page. Georgian poets soon became Southern poets as the site was opened up to all poets from around the "south". If you want a list of what I consider "southern" states you can find one on the Poets Across the South Webring site. With the influx of poets the number of members on NGPP more than doubled, and with that came an opportunity to offer more interaction with the site. A guestbook, mailing list, and a webring where the results. While none of the above has really taken off yet, they almost complete the evolution of NGPP. On October 20, 1999, a southern poetry journal was born. With a new look and feel, chat room, a new guestbook on the way, and most of the old stuff from NGPP carried over to boot I opened the window on Drawl. No commercial tie-ins. No monthly call for contest submissions. Nothing, but an amateur poetry journal hoping to get better.
